Super League Round 3 TV Preview
Looking back at round two and what a weekend of Rugby League! On Thursday night, Warrington put on a dominant display in front of a full house at the Halliwell Jones Stadium and managed to keep the reigning champions, St Helens to nil, a feat which no side has managed since 2016! An injury hit Castleford punished Wigan. Salford managed to inflict Toronto’s second consecutive defeat of the season, and we also had two matches on Sunday called off due to arrival of Storm Ciara. But the spectacle of the weekend was the Hull City derby on Friday Night. What a game! An action-packed fixture that had everything in-front of a packed-out KCOM… and not to mention a winning prediction of Hull FC to Win & Both Teams to Score 16 or More Points at 11/4!
Wigan vs Toronto (Thursday 7:45pm – Live on Sky Sports Arena)
Moving into round three, Wigan play host to the Toronto Wolfpack at the DW Stadium on Thursday night. Wigan were left disappointed from their trip to Castleford and will be eager to respond. Coach, Adrian Lamb, admits their performance last week was poor and penalties cost them dearly. The Wolfpack are still finding their feet in Super League and remain winless so far this season. It was still a much-improved performance last week but moving forward their small squad will be tested as marquee signing Sonny Bill Williams returns home to welcome the birth of his fourth child meaning they can only muster a bare 19-man squad. Taking it all into account, Wigan are rightfully very short favorites in this one and look to totally blow away the Canadian side on home soil. Value could be found in Wigan to win by the handicap (-16) at but given Toronto’s major squad issues, fatigue will play a key part and the Warriors could run away with this one.
Wigan to Win by 21 – 30 Points… enhanced to 3/1
Salford vs Huddersfield (Friday 7:45pm – Live on Sky Sports Arena)
Salford welcome the Huddersfield Giants to the AJ Bell Stadium on Friday night in what could be an early key clash for those mid-table spots and Super League survival. Salford come into round 3 on the back of victory last weekend against a much-improved Toronto Wolfpack. Whereas Huddersfield missed last weekend due to Storm Ciara playing havoc with their scheduled match against Leeds but showed arguably one of the best away performances in France beating the Catalan Dragons in round one. This will be a close tie with strong and physical sides aiming to dominate the midfield therefore both respects back-lines could be key and Huddersfield’s scrum half Aidan Sezer could be the deciding factor.
Huddersfield to Win & Both Teams to Score 16 or More Points… enhanced to 4/1
Wigan & Warrington – BOTH to Win by 13 or More Points… enhanced to 11/4
